Great app and now it's getting better!

It's a good app and does what it promises. Now that it's subscription though, I really want to see some significant progress and iteration. And.. it's happening!! 🥳 They're making a great app even better!
I had flagged a bug that was really frustrating. They fixed it. I asked for iOS shortcuts to make this the ultimate productivity tool. Here we are! I am just beginning to integrate Paste into my regular workflow and it‘s super powerful. With shortcuts now, we can do anything. The integration of Shortcuts is exactly everything we need. Super sharp.

Horrible 'update' implementation is a double whammy

No need to pile on regarding the subscription, but the update should not have been implemented as a minor, point update. Now, to keep the version I paid for I cannot update all apps at once. Rather, I must update each one by one to ensure I don't update Paste. Same goes for the Mac. The developer has repeatedly touted in responses they've left here that we can still keep the app we paid for, which is technically true, yet to do so is a royal pain and simply not worth the effort. Disappointing, as I liked the app and would have paid for a new version that had sufficient upgrades.
UPDATE: Developer says I can download new version and continue to use it for free which is simply NOT TRUE. Updating the program locks you out and requires a subscription. From the developer's blog: 'You don't have to — you still own what you paid for, we're not taking it away. If you do not want to pay for subscription, download and continue using the previous version, it is yours forever.' Note the previous version stipulation. This means you have to disable updates if you want to continue using it. And remember we're not talking about a new version, this is 0.1 'update'

How is this legal

I don't understand how this is legal. I paid money for the iOS, iPadOS, & OSX versions of this app. Now, out of no ware, the app updates and I need to pay for a subscription to access the app I paid for THREE times. Don't get me wrong, I love the app. If they would have released a new PastePro with a subscription and some cool new feature I would have been in. But randomly adding a subscription without even an email is unethical and I don't understand how OR if this is legal.. you want to add a subscription, fine, tell me first and don't back me into a corner. These comments from the developer saying you can 'download the version you paid for from this link' is also misleading. My phone auto updates apps. What am I supposed to turn that off just to accommodate your misleading business practices?
Apple: please investigate this. It's certainly a misleading business practice and potentially illegal. Thank you

Thank you for your feedback, however, we believe there is a misunderstanding – all existing users can continue using Paste on all devices, including iPhone and iPad, without a subscription. There is no need to update to a subscription plan if you don't want to.
